You Used To Be Here, commnly referred to as The Field, is the artists attempt to acknowledge a changing society and landscape, and the notions of what once was home. The field used to be large pieces of land across from the artists neighborhood but is now a small, unmaintained, sectioned off area of a nostalgic past, walled in by newer built monoculture suburbia. A nightmare stronger than a migraine, the colored sky sets the stage that something is wrong and there is tension within the scene despite the flourishing fauna apart of the green field on the bottom half of the piece. Missing the cornfield and the cows that used to wander in it during bright sunny days, the artist's heart becomes sore at the new sight, seeing and knowing that you used to be here but other forces stripped you away, pushed and smothered you, careless of the seemingly intangible and saturated soul of the land- the land that was painted gray and left for dead.
